Indian eVISA scheme has been suspended ever since the Government of India has imposed the lock-down last year. In a major relief, it has been now decided by the government that all subcategories of eVISA except e-Tourist VISA have been restored.
This relaxation is given by the government of India in the wake of the Pandemic to facilitate OCI cardholders to travel to India without inconvenience. It is however advised that all cardholders who require getting the renewal get this done as soon as possible.
The latest relaxations are to be read along with the series of previous relaxations/guidelines formulated by the government since 30th June 2020. Although certain restrictions are still kept in place keeping in view the ongoing pandemic situation, there has been further facilitation of travel for reasonable purposes.

‘VISA free’ refers to freedom of movement(limit of time period may apply), ‘Free VISA’ refers to the monetary aspect of acquiring a VISA, ‘VISA on arrival’ refers to the timing of grant of a VISA and ‘e VISA’ refers to the electronic mode of applying for a VISA. In short, these terms are not necessarily associated with the types of VISA but are concepts of International travel facilitation.
